In case you hadn’t noticed, my sister and I have always used humor to explain what otherwise might be thought of as tragic. We graduated from high school and college, we both had successful careers in education, and we both are mentally healthy. At least that’s what we tell everybody!
Put another way, The Kids Are Alright.
I would say we have an innate ability to find the positive in just about every situation. No, we are not Pollyanna’s. We love to psycho-babble, love our families and have a circle of friends who appreciate our unique background. At least that’s what we tell ourselves!
Our dad was our anchor and helped us to not only keep our heads above water, but to flourish. And, no matter what, to stick together! Abby and I took that to heart and have an unbreakable bond that will never be broken.
Our mother, Mary, did pretty much the exact opposite of that Dad helped us with. You have heard the saying, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Abby and I say when life gives you Mary, make merry!
